Biography
Formed at the end of 2000, Quintastoffa was a brief yet intense chapter
in the independent Sicilian music scene of the early 2000s.
The band immediately distinguished itself through its daring experimentation,
blending jazz with folk, and
progressive rock with contemporary music,
thereby creating a unique soundscape within the Sicilian panorama.
-
2001:
The band recorded “Live in Pompeo”, a live-in-studio session
captured at Maurizio Morello’s Spazio Musica in Ragusa.
This was promptly followed by the official presentation of their EP
at the Art Cafè in Ragusa Ibla. -
Active Period:
Throughout the 2001–2002 biennium, the group engaged in intense compositional
and concert activity, playing numerous gigs and participating in the regional
selections for Arezzo Wave 2001. -
2002:
While recording their first proper studio album, two tracks were submitted
to the Arezzo Wave selections. The band once again caught the festival’s attention,
but the news arrived after Quintastoffa had already disbanded.
Despite the project’s short lifespan, Quintastoffa was a highly important and
influential band for the Sicilian scene. Today, the legacy of that experience
lives on through the paths of its former members, all of whom continue to work
professionally in music, whether directly or in related fields.
